Fred Chaney AO, Former Australian Senator, Advocate for Aboriginal Community

Throughout his extensive career in politics Fred Chaney has been a strong advocate for the Aboriginal community in Australia. As well as being the former Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party of Australia, Fred has also been the Deputy Chairman of the Australian Native Title Tribunal, is the Chair of Desert Knowledge Australia, and on the Board of Directors of Reconciliation Australia.

He was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 1997 "for service to the Parliament of Australia and to the Aboriginal community through his contribution to the establishment of the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia and mediating with the National Native Title Tribunal".

We welcomed Fred Chaney to REQ, and immensely appreciated his insights on the current state of Aboriginal Affairs in Australia.
