We're paving the way for a younger generation of Australian Rotary members.
Who we are
In the beginning
In late 2015, we were a group of engaged Perth professionals seeking a vehicle to help us create change in the community. This fuelled the idea to establish an innovative vision of Rotary in Perth's Central Business District.
Paving the way for a new generation
Making Rotary attractive for a younger generation is a new concept in Rotary’s distinguished history, with only a handful of clubs being able to successfully change their existing culture to cater for the motivations and lifestyle commitments of the young professional. Through our experiences in other Rotary clubs in Perth, broader Australia and the USA, we saw a clear niche; to connect the incredible work Rotary does around the world, with the enthusiasm and talent of the younger generation.
After a 9 month planning period, the stage was set to launch our Rotary start-up; The Rotary of Elizabeth Quay (REQ).
Point of Difference
Our members join REQ because they have a real desire to make a difference and are looking for a way to give back to the community. We believe that philanthropy is not reserved for the wealthy and that everyone has the ability to make a difference.
REQ understands that each member has existing life and work commitments that might limit their time and availability for the club. That is why we aim to fit our Club around Rotarians by ensuring we leverage each member’s time and skills, organise weekly activities that respond to our members’ and Club’s requirements, and offer some flexibility around members’ participation.

Rotary Clubs Have been around for over 100 years
Since 1905, Rotary has been making a positive impact in the world. Beginning in Chicago before spreading throughout the world, Rotary first touched our shores in Australia in 1921, with the charter of the Rotary Club of Melbourne, closely followed by the charter of a Sydney Club and other Clubs around the nation.

BUT WHAT'S ROTARY
Rotary is an international membership organization made up of people who share a passion for and commitment to enhancing communities and improving lives across the world. Rotary clubs exist in almost every country. Our members change lives locally and connect with other clubs to work on international projects that address today’s most pressing challenges. Being a member is an opportunity to take action and make a difference, and it brings personal rewards and lifelong friendships in the process.
Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, reflects our belief in unselfish volunteer service.
